Money & Power

A strategy game in the spirit of Heroes of Might and Magic, mixing turn-based and real-time battles: taxes give money, the army gives power, spells give magic, and in the design document, dated July 2000, there were already unit stats, a morale formula and skills such as telepathy and raising the dead. The team was IVAvision: Sergey Trasko and I wrote the code, my friend Pavel Burakov drew the art. The game itself was never finished, but the pieces survived.

Programs

Intro 2000

The credits as a fire intro: every line burns into the screen and falls apart into ripples. Dated 28.4.2k, freeware.

Path 2000

Pathfinding for the units: a wave spreads from the bottom-right corner across a random map with about 50,000 obstacles, and every cell is coloured by its distance. The path is then traced back along the wave.

Lands 2000–2002

The map engine, started in November 2000: tiles of water and sand with smooth shore transitions, scrolling, and an FPS counter in the corner.
