Roach Racing Club
Web3 racing game with its own WebGL engine.
10 players per live race
Context
A real-time 3D racing game you steer by trading: each roach is tied to a crypto pair, and closing a long or short in profit speeds it up. Runs on the web and as a Telegram mini-app.
What I did
- Game design, tokenomics and Solidity contracts; hybrid on/off-chain architecture with a chain scanner and transaction manager.
- Browser engine on Three.js for live races of 10 players: GLTF models, animation, post-processing, Möbius-strip tracks.
- Race model with physics and slipstream aerodynamics, balanced in an admin simulator that runs roaches with different stats (heart rate, oxygen, lactate, fatigue) against each other; each roach’s AI forecasts 10–20 seconds ahead to pick its power, and there is no randomness — the only chance comes from live exchange rates; generative roaches assembled from parts and rendered in Blender.
- Microservice backend on Node.js/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ and Redis: horizontally scaled API and WebSocket race servers, live prices aggregated from Binance, Kraken and Bybit, a Telegram bot and mini-app, payments in USDC and Telegram Stars.
- Gas-efficient genesis mint with ERC-721A; chain sync on Polygon, where reorgs happen several times a day, up to 7 blocks deep. Released on the Abstract blockchain in 2025 with real-time 3D PvP races.
